Stillness is resolution.
Before a structure can be perceived, the interference of your own momentum, interpretation and usefulness must become audible.
For practitioners
You learned to meet the person in front of you. The next work is learning to perceive the structure they are standing inside.

The wall at the end of presence
Presence perceives a person with extraordinary fidelity: their fear, their history, the movement beneath a word. But a consequential decision is not a person. It has a shape, a horizon, a pattern of consequence and a structure of its own.
If you cannot perceive that structure, you will naturally work on the one thing in view: the person. You may steady them. You may help them feel met. And the shape that caught them may remain unread.
The difference is not philosophical. It is the difference between relief and release.
The refinement
Before a structure can be perceived, the interference of your own momentum, interpretation and usefulness must become audible.
Turn your attention from the person’s experience of the decision to the decision itself: its direction, compression, excess and false symmetry.
Do not let the first available interpretation close the perception before the structure has had time to show itself.
The cost of becoming finer
To see more is not pure gain. You lose the peace of what you could not register: in a client, in a colleague, in yourself. Once the structure becomes visible, it asks something of you.
But there is a second cost: the people who leave steadied, still caught, because no one in the room could see the water. This work begins when that cost becomes impossible to ignore.
